Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru – Luxury Unparalleled

Have you ever been to a hotel with such levels of grandeur that you start feeling like a king or a queen as soon as you step inside? I have been to a few and Shangri-La Bengaluru definitely counts among them.

The magnificent lobby with all the chandeliers looking down at you from the high ceilings makes you feel like you are in a palatial setup. To your left is the reception where everything goes so smoothly and swiftly that you hardly need to stand there for a minute before you get your room keys handed over to you and to your right is the Lobby Lounge, a place where you can have the most amazing tea in Bangalore, or that cup of coffee or a glass of wine while sitting down for a meeting or just enjoying the piano during the evenings. 

Shangri-La Bangalore, a high rise poised in the heart of the city surrounded by the greenery of the Cubbon Park, the historic Bangalore Palace and much more that you can explore while staying here.  Also, Shang offers some of the best panoramic views that you can imagine. This is the biggest property in Bangalore with almost 400 rooms, 7 restaurants & bars, one of the best spas in the city, a beautiful pool and a fully loaded fitness center. 

Soon it was time to head to my room, and I get super excited each time to check out the space where I’d be spending my next three days in sheer indulgence. I was in a premiere suite but you can select from a wide array of room categories that are available at Shang.

The premiere suite was a class apart - a one-bedroom suite with a separate living room and working area. The lavish bathrobes (which is really important for me, read “My Bathrobe Life”), the pillow menu, 2 huge TV’s and a wide selection of channels along with high-speed Wi-Fi access anywhere at the property.

I was convinced that I was in for a staycation of a lifetime 😊. And oh, not to forget the bed, I just didn’t feel like parting ways with it because sitting there and gazing at the views outside was just as good as anything else.

The bathroom with a bathtub and walk-in shower was exemplary and more so because I’m a huge fan of Kama Ayurveda products (Shangri-La had toiletries from Kama Ayurveda).

Shangri-La is not just another hotel but an experience and it was now time to explore another splendid part of it.

Chi, The Spa – This is unlike any other spa that I have ever been to. It was grand, the ambience was dreamy and the service was impeccable. A 90 minute deep tissue massage just flew by. This is highly recommended. 

I did use the gym once as I was eating like it was my last day on this planet. The gym has all the latest equipment and your free weights too. So do not forget to use the gym when here and take care of your health too.

The pool area looked splendid and I enjoyed my breakfast not by but in the pool on the sundeck and it couldn’t get any better. This is perfect for your romantic rendezvous when staying here.

Now let’s head to the 7 very exciting and flavor rich restaurants and bars at the property-

b-Café – Located at the lobby level, this is an all-day dining multi cuisine restaurant with live kitchen counters to customize as per your taste buds.

Caprese – Perched high on the 18th floor, this one is an Italian lovers delight. The pizza, risotto and tiramisu at Caprese stood out for me. 

Ssaffron – Up on the 18th floor is Ssaffron, an Indian restaurant that offers unmatched views along with unrivalled Indian food. Ssaffron is where I had some of the best tasting Indian food in Bangalore. Tip - Do not miss the dal Makkhani and the Indian deserts.

Yataii - Love Japanese food? This is the place for you. Indulge while looking out at the wonderful cityscapes.

Shang Palace – For the flavors of China come to Shang Palace. Located on the 3rd floor the ambience of this place will transport you to a Chinese hamlet while enjoying your dimsums, soups and noodles. Please do not forget to have the Mango mouse dessert. 

b café Pastry – Got your sweet tooth on? This pastry shop at the lobby level will blow you away, not literally though. Treat yourself to some tasty macarons, cookies, pastries or that hot cup of coffee or your hot chocolate here. 

Hype – If you want to be above it all then you must visit Hype which is located on the 19th and the topmost floor of the hotel. This is an open-air lounge for all you party people. Come here and savor some of the tastiest cocktails in the town and shake a leg or two.

Last but not the least, I met some of the most amicable and polite staff here at Shang. They will carry that smile with grace and give it their all to make your stay as splendid and comfortable as possible.
